AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 8

The City of Austin's 2014 10-1 Ordinance changed the face of Austin politics.  On November 4, 2014, voters in Austin selected an entirely new City Council, under a new system with 10 district representatives and a mayor elected citywide.  The new model added four seats to the council, and the resulting City Council comprises mostly new members.

District 8 is the district which is closely associated with OHAN.  All OHAN members residing within the City of Austin also reside in District 8.  For a map of OHAN neighborhoods and District 8 boundaries, please click on OHAN/District 8 Map

Ellen Troxclair

Ellen Troxclair is a long-time resident of Austin who knows that Southwest Austin needs strong representation at City Council on issues like property taxes, transportation, the cost of living, public safety, and responsible spending. She is running for City Council because she loves this city and wants to see its uniqueness preserved for generations to come by managing growth responsibly. City Hall desperately needs her proven common sense leadership to guide Austin into the future, while fighting for better roads, facilities, and services that our neighborhoods depend on.

As a Realtor and a small-business owner, Ellen knows that we need to keep Austin a great place to live and do business. She sees first-hand how issues such as skyrocketing property taxes and gridlocked traffic are negatively impacting residents and has a clear, cohesive vision for the future. In addition to running her business, she is a member of the Host Committee for St. David’s Toast of the Town and dedicates her time to raising scholarship money for Central Texas students wishing to pursue health related careers. She is also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a Steward of the Wild through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, a loyal patron of Ballet Austin, and a member of the Texas Association of Realtors and Austin Board of Realtors.

Ellen and her husband, Caleb, live in Villages at Western Oaks with their two dogs, Abby & Rosco. She earned a degree in business from the University of Texas and began her career working in public policy at the Texas Capitol. This experience, along with starting her own small business, has given her an appreciation for serving others and a passion for effecting positive change at City Hall.
